  • The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic maintains, repairs, rebuilds or overhauls, power generation, air conditioning, and other quartermaster equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determines equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment operations.

  • Solve problems by using manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.

  • Diagnoses, repairs, and installs equipment to include: gasoline and diesel-powered generators, decontamination apparatus, electric motors, light towers, air conditioners, pressure washers, steam cleaners, air compressors, wiring harnesses, printed circuit, starters, and other equipment as required.

  • May be required to wear a respirator.

Minimum Qualifications:
(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

  • Completion of formal military or civilian training in power systems, electronics, and soldering. The soldering course must meet Mil-Standard 2000.

  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a power systems' mechanic, worker, or helper.

  • Should have ASE/C.F.C certifications in air conditioning reclamation, recycle and recovery R-12 to R502 refrigerants and a working knowledge of military air conditioning systems.

  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in electronics trouble shooting repair at the general support level. Depot level experience a definite plus.

  • Must be able to obtain a SECRET Clearance.

  • Must be able to pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) for computer access.
