We currently have three friendly neighborhood stores in Saint Paul that are owned by over 18,000 of our community members.

Reports to: Purchasing Manager

Qualifications:

• 1+ years' purchasing experience in the natural or conventional food industry

• Demonstrated knowledge of the natural foods industry and current industry trends and products

• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands, projects, and tasks in a fast-paced environment

• Demonstrated experience delivering results to meet organizational objectives

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

• Demonstrated analytical ability and proficiency in math

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Microsoft Excel and computer-based applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Multilingual

Position Summary:

The Grocery Category Manager plans, directs and coordinates the selection, pricing and promotion of packaged grocery, bulk, refrigerated, frozen and bread products for the grocery department to meet the co-op's objectives for sales growth and margin contribution, while managing price perception and meeting our standards of excellence for quality and merchandising.

Specific areas of accountability include: product selection, pricing, promotions and merchandising, sampling, events, and providing guidance to store leadership and staff in their area of accountability.

This role requires strategic thinking, an orientation towards results, strong communication, collaboration, problem solving, intercultural competence, and multi-tasking / prioritization / organization skills as well as customer service, adaptability, initiative, self-awareness, resiliency, judgment, and integrity.

Physical and Working Requirements:

This position requires frequent sitting, standing as well as walking; the ability to occasionally lift, move or handle boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, converse and exchange information with others, move around our stores, offices, selling floor, stock areas, kitchen, and classrooms, operate office equipment including a 10 key calculator, telephone, computer, and printer; and efficiently travel between locations with or without reasonable accommodation.
