Responsibilities of the Grinder/Deburr Technician include, but are not limited to:

  • Wear safety glasses with face shield

  • Proper lifting techniques shall be followed

  • Use additional tools to assist lifting when needed (i.e. dolly, forklift, hoist)

  • Make sure guards are in place, plug and outlet is correct and in working order

  • Clear work area of any hazards and/or other personnel

  • Hold metal with both hands

  • Proper hand positioning while grinding material

  • Turn grinder on prior to contact with the metal

  • Grind on the peace of metal to even the weld, or to clean a surface of iron, or even to cut a peace of metal for a guard

  • Turn grinder off when complete

  • Look over the material to make sure edges are smooth

  • Any other PPE as needed

Today, C&B operates from 35 locations and serves customers throughout the United States. Summary Grind, sand, or polish, using hand tools or hand-held power tools, a variety of metals. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Functions * Grind, sand, clean, or polish objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools. * Select files or other abrasives, according to materials, sizes and shapes of work pieces, amount of stock to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing process. * Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure grinding and polishing standards are met. * Verify quality of finished work pieces by inspection, comparison to templates, measuring their dimensions, or testing work pieces in working machinery. * Record product and processing data on specified forms. * Transfer equipment, objects, or parts to specified work areas, using moving devices. * Apply solutions and chemicals to equipment, objects, or parts using hand tools. * Repair and maintain equipment, objects, or parts using hand tools. * Sharpen abrasive grinding tools, using machines and hand tools. * File grooved, contoured, and irregular surfaces of metal objects, such as metal working dies and machine parts, to conform to templates, other parts, layouts, or blueprint specifications. * Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torches, straightening presses, and hand tools. * Hammer out bulges or bends in metal work pieces. Minimum Qualifications * High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) * 1-2 years of related experience Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Accuracy Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly * Detail Oriented Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task. * Safety Awareness Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety. * Working under pressure ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations. * Motivation Ability to inspire oneself and others to reach a goal and/or perform to the best of their ability. * Accountability Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
