Green Coffee Buyer

Who we are:

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Coffee Purchasing, the Green Coffee Buyer performs a critical role in sourcing, selecting, evaluating quality, and developing and maintaining systems and protocols for analyzing green purchasing forecasts, inventories, and optimum blend formulations. The Green Coffee Buyer works closely with the Green Coffee Manager to determine potential out of stock situations and alleviate them through spot purchase or temporary formula adjustments.

What you will do:

• Communicates daily with green coffee suppliers, both import and export communities, to evaluate coffee market conditions, obtain differential price offers, and industry news

• Works closely with Sr. Director, Coffee Purchasing to solicits offers from supply chain partners for shipments from origin in quantities required

• Participate in daily cupping with the buying team

• Records cupping analysis in Cropster

• Responsible for any necessary spot purchases to avoid out of stock situations

• Supports and supplies coffee communication to business channels, provides demonstrations and training for internal and external customers

• Participates in panel tastings for coffee, tea, and other food or beverage as needed

• Maintains current green coffee forecast analysis and SR reporting per ESG requirements

• Responsible for blend formula management

• Works with supply chain finance partner to provide mark to market price projections

• Travel to origin as assigned by manager to gain information and insight into coffee supply chain with reporting back to the coffee team

• Other duties as assigned by manager

Who you are:

• Knowledge and experience in green coffee supply chain activities

• Understanding of the GCA coffee contract, pricing mechanisms and terms

• Ability to discriminate in taste with the gained ability to approve Peet's Quality types within two years

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Power BI

• Experience working with an ERP system

• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Peet's Home Office is a Hybrid worksite, which requires any Home Office employees to work onsite (Emeryville, CA) 5 days per week with the exception of any fully-remote role.

The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant's qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.
