Position Description

Produce, manage and transfer plate files and supporting production documents using ESKO software. Verify job information, art files, separation files, plate files comply with customer requirements, standards, specifications and government regulations. Collaborate with Graphics employees and managers to correct and contain non-conformances, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions.

Job Description

  • Generate plate files by running SAP extracts and applying single and/or stepped workflow automation tickets to single separation files. Manage pending and approved composite files on the Graphics server; execute SAP extracts and workflow tickets to build composite PDF and publish to SAP.

    Manage pending, approved, and obsoleted plate files on the Graphics server; transfer approved plate files to appropriate NA printing plants; archive obsoleted plate files and communicate obsoletions to NA printing plants to discard physical printing plates. Release and commit SAP materials to production. Schedule rework tasks in the Graphics production planning system; select appropriate resource calculation criteria, reason code, and priority rating, provide work instructions, and assign work tasks to individuals.

    Document all job notes and job-related discussions, record job output metrics, and complete jobs in the Graphics production planning system. Generate multiple reports and files on the Graphics server for historical job information.

  • Verify art, separation, and plate files using electronic file comparison and inspection software; review files for compliance to flexographic industry and Cryovac printing specifications including, but not limited to dot gain compensation, LPI ruling, screen angles, dot percentages, dot shape, cylinder distortion, emulsion orientation, UPC and bar width reduction, traps and cutbacks, minimum line weight and text, and color correction. Review product specifications to ensure they adhere to customer requirements and manufacturing specifications.

    Analyze internally generated and customer-supplied artwork for compliance with government food labeling requirements. Verify that common images are utilized and check artwork builds across customer product lines to ensure customer brand management and consistency.

  • Research and troubleshoot discrepancies and contradictions to meet customer expectations and expedite quick resolution of problems. Stay abreast of government food labeling regulations and collaborate with Graphics Coordinators to ensure customers' labels are compliant.

    Participate in prepress and project meetings to eliminate potential problems from entering the workflow. Recommend corrective action to peers and management as necessary. Provide constructive feedback to Graphics employees regarding the quality of inspected information and files to support best methods and standard work.

  • Document all defects and non-conformances for quality performance and improvement; analyze defects for the root cause, including individual(s) and workgroup(s) responsible, identify defect pareto category, and describe defect. Monitor defects to identify quality trends; collaborate with the QAS team, trainer(s), and manager(s) for improvement opportunities; use quality data to proactively detect errors on customer- and vendor-supplied artwork.

  • Contain defects and non-conforming products; remove all non-conforming files from approved locations on the server; label files as bad to prevent future use and retain non-conforming files in appropriate server locations for root cause analysis and investigation. Communicate with external partners to contain non-conforming information, files, and plates. Provide recommendations for correction, and collaborate with Graphics work groups to release corrected information and files.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience within Graphics workflow preferred.

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and progressive work ethic.

  • Support and adapt eagerly to changes in work and technical environment.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to consistently produce error-free work.

  • Demonstrate skills in oral and written communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution, problem-solving, organization, and time management.

  • Possesses strong computer, network, and file management skills.

  • Knowledge of product lines and equipment, proofreading, orientation to quality improvement and quality tools, separation techniques and standards including process and screens, and government labeling regulations.
