Major Functions
The County of Volusia is seeking a Graphic Designer - Working Title: Web Designer for the Community Information Division. This position will be located in Deland, Florida, and will be responsible for technical work designing, administering, and editing the County's Internet website.
Illustrative Duties

Responsible for analysis, development, design, and administration of the County's websites.
Performs graphic format manipulation and compression for internet website to ensure graphic content is user friendly.
Designs and edits graphics and photos for use on websites.
Works with County departments to discuss and facilitate website needs.
Integrates content on to website.
Works closely with external website provider and Information Technology Division.
Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.
Responds to emergency situations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Serve in the Emergency Operations Center indefinitely in the event of an emergency, including during night shifts and on weekend days if required.
Minimum Requirements
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED and (4) years experience in web design or similar experience. The preferred candidate having met the minimum requirements,will have an associates or bachelor's degree in web design or a similar field.
A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of appointment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Extensive knowledge of HTML, CMS, JavaScript and PHP.
Knowledge of video formats.
Knowledge of website and social media marketing.
Demonstrated knowledge and skill in website design and copy editing.
Ability to analyze website stats and reports.
Ability- to problem-solve.
Ability to learn on the job and keep up to date with current website technology and trends.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to train clients and staff in web design.
Experience working in a PC environment.
Ability to meet time sensitive deadlines. Able to work under stressful conditions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, vendors and other staff.
Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
Ability to correct improper grammar and spelling mistakes.
Ability to coordinate and complete concurrent projects and assignments.
Ability to work under stressful conditions.
Ability to interact effectively with others.
Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs.

Physical Demands: Sedentary work. Visual acuity (peripheral vision, depth perception, color acuity) necessary to operate a motorized vehicle, and/or review and update graphics/websites) finger dexterity. Ability to bend, reach, grasp, and sit.
Environmental Demands: Inside work.
Mental Demands: Ability to read and comprehend technical and professional manuals, safety instructions, procedures, memos, and letters. Ability to perform shop math and geometry. Ability to write memos, captions, letters, instructions, and procedures. Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
