The Graphic Designer will create visual concepts to communicate ideas that inspire, inform or captivate consumers; manage specific design & communication projects to elevate the LIU brand and improve advertising relative to strategic institutional goals and suggest strategies to reach a particular audience and recommend the message the design should portray. Create designs, concepts and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts. Set up and maintain creative and print timelines, track & communicate development progress. Ensuring brand consistency throughout various projects

Work with Marketing & Communications team and clients in advance to establish project deadlines, including needs, responsibilities, steps, and deliverables. Review and study latest design trends to keep work product updated.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepares work by gathering and researching information.

  • Illustrates concept by designing rough layout of art and copy, regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.

  • In-depth understanding of most recent design software such as the Adobe Creative Suite. As well as a good understanding of the software in which the client uses, such as the Microsoft Office.

  • In-depth understanding and working experience related to digital marketing and advertising, social media and events.

  • Edits and updates previous existing designs to match new information and qualifications.

  • Communicates effectively with client and team members to create the most accurate, and desirable product.

  • Once approved by all parties, the graphic designer must effectively communicate with the print employees, or outside printing companies in order to achieve the most accurate product.

  • Understanding of print production and approximate turn around for desired product.

  • Assist team members with their own projects such as social media, web, e-mails, and newsletters.

  • Liaising between several teams to ensure deadlines are met.

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher in marketing, design or communications and at least five years' experience. The ability to create copy a plus.
