The Graphic Design Specialist will provide graphic design support for proposals, presentations and other sales-related materials produced to support client development. May instruct, direct or monitor other graphic designers or project managers.

To fulfill this role, the Graphic Design Specialist can expect to:

  • Prepare design layouts for proposals, marketing materials and client presentations using PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite and/or other appropriate software.

  • Communicate a winning strategy through graphic design.

  • Take content and create a graphic from that content with a limited understanding of the text.

  • Research typeface, color palettes, photography and the impact of primary and secondary graphic elements, as appropriate.

  • Maintain a schedule for meeting deadlines, aligning deliverable due dates with project deadlines.

  • Explain graphic design concepts to internal clients (pursuit team members, users of the service) to build their understanding and support of graphic design.

  • Peer review designs for visual consistency and adherence to Mercer graphics standards and style guidelines.

  • Upon completion of a project, review, collect and contribute content to the intellectual capital collection

To be considered for this position, the following qualifications and experience are required:

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design.

  • 4 years' experience in both graphic design and web design, preferably for a professional services firm.

  • Experience in crafting and presenting strategic designs that support market positioning and communications goals.

  • Possesses advanced knowledge of PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe AEM website design (or similar software)

  • Demonstrate effective project and time management with a focus on customer service.

  • Exhibits solid graphic design and layout acumen.

  • Can balance the goal of delivering the "ultimate" product that meets clients' communications needs with the need to meet project deadlines within budget.

  • Works independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of accuracy.

This position reports to the Director of Space Planning and Interior Design. * Works in collaboration with design firms and/or owners/end-users, architects, landscape designers, lighting designers, and/or fountain designers to solve challenging opportunities for branding and signage. * Designs and implements both interior and exterior signage systems and displays by interpreting and upholding the university identity system. * Responsible for development of exterior signage; establishing and managing, way finding systems; as well as donor-related and other forms of displays. * Works with vendors to obtain quotations, submits orders, approves product samples, provides artwork, and supervises installation. * Interacts with the Emory community and works with Project and Program manager to establish graphics budgets. * Serves on various campus committees and commissions, as well as participates in the development and implementation of strategic plans for growth and improvements to campus. * Produces project updates and status reports for management. * Will be required to work independently with minimal supervision. * Performs related responsibilities as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * A bachelor's degree in graphic design, Industrial Design or a related field and five years of experience in architectural graphics and sign system programs or related field, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. * Must have proven ability in concept development, layout composition, color theory and typography. * Must be proficient in Photoshop, PageMaker, InDesign. Excel, Autocad, and CAD modeling software and have advanced knowledge of InDesign and Illustrator. * Experience in environmental design, logo display and print design a plus. * A valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record (Emory standards) may be required.
