The Research and Grants Specialist is a grant funded position that shall be responsible for managing and facilitating the grant applications and management process, ensuring compliance with funding agency requirements, and providing valuable assistance to faculty members in securing research funding. The Research and Grants Specialist will report directly to the PI over the NSF-EPIIC grant.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist faculty members in identifying relevant grant opportunities.

  • Review, prepare, and submit grant applications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to guidelines.

  • Monitor submission deadlines and ensure timely submissions.

  • Collaborate with faculty to develop funding strategies and research proposals.

  • Stay updated on funding trends, opportunities, and regulations.

  • Work with faculty to develop grant budgets.

  • Monitor and manage grant expenditures in compliance with grant guidelines.

  • Ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions.

  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to funding agencies.

  • Maintain accurate grant records and documentation.

  • Conduct workshops and training sessions for faculty on grant-related topics.

  • Serve as a resource for faculty regarding grant-related inquiries.

  • Assist in the development and refinement of grant proposals, including reviewing and editing proposal content.

  • Provide guidance on the presentation of research ideas and objectives.

  • The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in grant writing, management, or administration.

  • Strong understanding of grant regulations and compliance.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in budget development and financial management.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with faculty and funding agencies.

  • Proficient in using relevant software and databases for grant management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master's degree preferred).

  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours.
