SALARY
The minimum salary is $23.786 - $29.733 per hour
This position is eligible for overtime (non-exempt), if applicable.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to perform all functions related to the inspection, evaluation and assessment of residential dwellings to determine rehabilitative work required to correct health and safety issues, and/or building code deficiencies for the Division of Grants & Special Programs and monitor corrective work for compliance with grant funding requirements, KY residential code, and LFUCG code of ordinances.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Associate's degree, vocational technical degree, or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two (2) years of college education in architecture, engineering, fire science, building technology, or construction-related subject
Two (2) years of experience as a foreman or other position that requires reading and interpreting building plans and specifications; or, two (2) years of experience performing building design or drafting duties for an architect or engineer

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Conduct on-site inspections, determines required rehabilitation and repair needs and develops work specifications with cost estimates for federally funded financial assistance programs
Prepare rehabilitation estimates for multiple trades for improvements
Coordinate a bidding process for assigned projects, and reviews contractor bids with clients
Complete on-site inspections to ensure rehabilitative work is completed on time and within budget according to project specifications and contract requirements
Evaluate change order requests to insure validity of request and cost
Develops contractor payment applications based upon project completion rate
Complete on-site inspections and reporting of code compliance for federally funded single/multifamily dwellings
Create and issue official communications including code compliance reports, stop work orders, contract amendments, lead safe housing requirement screening
Performs related work as assigned
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
All Certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment.
Valid Driver's License
One- and Two-Family Dwelling Inspector certification within the six (6) month probationary period and maintained as a condition of continued employment, which includes the passage of either the NCPCCI test module: 1A Building One- and Two-Family Dwelling and 4A Building One- and Two-Family Dwelling Mechanical or the ICC B1-Residential Building Inspector and M1- Residential Mechanical Inspector.
EPA- or HUD-approved Lead Remodeler/Renovator training must be completed within first six(6) months of employment as a condition for permanent appointment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post job offer physical.
