Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM)is a multi-disciplinary arts center located in Brooklyn, New York. The Grants Funding Coordinator will report to the Director of Institutional Funding & Government and will support all aspects related to identification, solicitation, grant writing, benefit fulfillment, stewardship and reporting for foundation funders. The coordinator will also provide general administrative support to the Institutional Giving Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general administrative tasks, such as filing, procuring supplies, scheduling, correspondence and prepare materials for meetings with government officials.

  • Maintain application and reporting calendar, manage proposal and reporting deadlines, and compile internal and external reports on progress for various stakeholders.

  • Prepare accurate, comprehensive, and timely application proposals for both general operating and special project funding.

  • Research prospective funders/donors and coordinate the stewardship of existing funders/donors.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day coding, processing, receipting, and record keeping of gifts pledged or received for the department.

  • Oversee prompt acknowledgment of gifts.

  • Assist the Advancement department with general administrative and event support.

  • Work closely with the Institutional Giving & Government team, to oversee documentation and fulfillment of foundation programs, including giving level benefits and amenities where appropriate and flagging opportunities for driving more goodwill and value.

  • Provide support to fundraising events, including cultivation events.

  • Schedule meetings with key government officials.

  • In coordination with the Director of Government Relations, invite key community stakeholders, elected officials, and government staffers to performances, cinema screenings, educational programs, and receptions to cultivate awareness and interest.

  • Update and manage Tessitura database on all Institutional Giving & Government constituencies.

  • Develop documents with focused research and data relevant to government officials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or minimum of 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in grants funding

  • Clear, concise, and effective written communication skills

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and dependability

  • The ability to manage multiple competing priorities, efficiently and effectively

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including active listening and collaboration

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and other Microsoft software

  • Prior fundraising experience and knowledge

  • Tessitura experience preferred

  • Ability to work remotely and in person

Compensation: The salary for this position is $54,000 per year. The role is represented by Local 2110 and will be paid in accordance with the BAM/UAW Local 2110 Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is full-time, non-exempt, and eligible for benefits.
