Description:

This position has divisional level responsibility for research operation for UIC Student Affairs. This includes all aspects of research administration and operations, including contract and subcontract development, management, reporting and compliance.

The position serves as the Division's primary contact with Grants and Contracts, Office or Research Services, external sponsors and internal/ external auditors. This position also coordinates the award and budgets of intramural research programs; administers multi-program, multi-party research programs; and seeks and develops emerging business opportunities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Pre-AwardReview project guidelines; identify and inform Associate/Assistant Vice Chancellors within Student Affairs of funding opportunities that match their portfolios, interests and background. Research and review sponsor requirements at the proposal state and ensure compliance prior to application submission, including preparation and adherence to protocol timeline.Write grant applications in partnership with grant leads.Organize and prepare pre-award proposal documentation including Proposal Approval Form (PAF), budgets, institutional information, budget justifications, sponsor compliance, regulatory information, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) status.Secure cost-share approval and documentation from external subcontractors.Direct funding application process and administer research proposals and subcontracts.

Post-AwardServe a subject matter expert on grant management for the Division and act as a liaison to Grant and Contracts and external and internal departments.Support administers all financial activities of grants, contracts, consulting agreements, subcontracts, and vendor agreements for sponsored projects within the Division.Inform Principal Investigators and research staff of changes in sponsor policies and regulations; manage, coordinate and ensure compliance with changes. Manage and resolve compliance issues including conflict of interest, sub-recipient reporting, SB 51 impacting procurement processes, flow down provisions related to sponsored research proposals.Request accounts and prepare budgets; manage requests for no-cost extensions, progress reports, prior approvals, budget revisions, and grant closeouts on behalf of Principal Investigations. Reporting Lead the creation of reports for the principal investigator and project team detailing expenditures, balances, sub awards, metrics, milestone etc.Monitor reporting deadlines and work with principal investigator to submit reports. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics or a field related to the position

  • Demonstrated experience in full cycle administration of grant and contract administration for pre/post awards for student support programs/activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, social sciences, business administration, or a field related to the position preferred.

  • Masters degree or Ph.D. preferred.

  • Five or more years in grant writing and administration preferred.

  • Grant-writing certification or credential.

  • Additional knowledge of budget development and management, and federal reporting requirements preferred.

  • Advanced writing skills, project management skills preferred.

  • Additional track record of grant management preferred.
