Description:

Under administrative direction, employees allocated to this classification perform activities related to the complete lifecycle of sponsored program administration. Typical activities include the identification of funding sources, proposal drafting and submission, contract negotiation, sub-award issuance, pre-award and post-award administration (both financial and non-financial) of grants, awards and contracts that provide support for research, curriculum development, outreach, and/or service work.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Managing a Group of faculty, being responsible for ensuring that they remain within the budget allowed by the Funding Source to assure compliance with funding and the future success of programs. Manage Grant and Contract proposals and renewals for agency programs.

This includes collecting current research on each grant proposal's subject; coordinating programmatic, administrative and budget preparation for appropriate staff members and faculty paid from specific grants; completing necessary forms and attachments; preparing the budget and providing information necessary for grant submissions. Reviews requests for new hires and budget changes in approved grants and contracts. Determines whether such changes are permissible under the terms of the grant or contract, and recommends approval or disapproval.

Responsible for all aspects of management of funding for all grants, contracts, and subcontracts funded by designated sponsoring agencies. Maintaining computerized and paper files of all funding, and communicating grant awards to the appropriate faculty/managers. Grant Compliance including communication of funding requirements to appropriate staff/faculty; ensuring the timely submission of required statistical and narrative reports; assisting with program reporting when necessary and outcome tracking for compliance with funding requirements during the life of the grant.

Serves as fiscal officers in the administration of grants and contracts awarded by designated sponsoring agencies, provide knowledge of sponsor and university regulations, and serve as liaison between the sponsoring agency and award recipients. Conduct quarterly and impromptu meetings with Faculty required for the successful management of Grants and Contracts. Problem solving and providing explanations and interpretation of granting agency/ university procedures, regulations, and policies.

Liaison with sponsoring agency and the Department of Psychiatry/ University of Illinois at Chicago Participates with internal, federal, or state audits when required. Other duties may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics or a field related to the position.
