Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
The Grants Administrator manages fiscal operations for the Research, Evaluation, and Measurement Center (REM Center) in the College of Education. The REM Center has approximately 25 accounts with an annual budget of about $2 million.
The position analyzes financial information and prepares timely reconciliation across all accounts for the REM Cener. Using analytical skills, the position advises PIs on matters concerning scheduling of resources to ensure timely and on budget completion. The Grants Administrator processes and monitors grant-related and personnel expenses for the REM Center and provides general office support.
Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor's degree and 1 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
None
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer at least 3 years of experience in contracts and grant administration activities. Experience with management of contracts and grant budgets in institutions of higher education.
Experience with USC financial and grants management systems. GRANT certification or other research administration credential. Advanced spreadsheet management, such as Microsoft Excel, and advanced word processing skills.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities. Excellent organization and time management skills.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to compose concise and grammatically correct general and fiscal correspondence. Ability to work with a diverse group of people. Must have strong organizational skills and be able to set appropriate priorities when handling multiple tasks.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

Job Duty
Fiscal Planning and Monitoring: Develops projections of budgetary expenditures across multiple accounts for the Research, Evaluation, and Measurement Center (REM Center). Prepares reports and planning tools to assist faculty in post-award planning of expenditures on multiple project accounts and advises faculty on alterative spending plans.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 50 Job Duty
Processing Grant-Related Expenditures: Processes all REM Center forms and expenditures related to procurement, services, and travel. Initiates, prepares, and submits grant-related paperwork through University systems.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty
Processing Human Resources Expenditures: Processes all faculty, staff, student, and temporary employee human resources and payroll documents for the REM Center. Compiles time and effort reports twice per year.

Budget Development and Other Fiscal Support: Provides pre-award support, processes award modifications, and responds to requests for financial information from faculty PIs.

General Office Support: Performs general office support duties such as electronic filing, receiving guests, monitoring office equipment, and submitting requests for facilities and technology support. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
