What you will be doing:

As a Grants Administrator 3 (GA3), you will supervise and mentor Grants Administrators assigned to support one or more divisions within the Department on the solicitation, management, and administration of health and social service grant programs. In addition to managing your team's workload, you will be assigned the more complex grant programs to administer, work with your fellow GA3's to coordinate office training, troubleshoot IRIS grant coding errors, and assist with special projects. Duties also include providing technical assistance to divisions, direct reports, and grantees regarding the application of Department of Health (DOH) policies and procedures and grant regulations.

Work schedules are flexible as long as they fall within office hours.

The Grants and Contracts office is located on the third floor of the Alaska Office Building in downtown Juneau and is within walking distance of restaurants and grocery stores. The Grants section currently employs sixteen incredibly supportive individuals, with teammates that pitch in so no one person is overwhelmed.

  • Reasoning: Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions.

  • Technical Credibility: Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

  • Accounting: Knowledge of traditional accounting practices including accrual, obligations, and costs methods.

  • Reasoning: Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions.

  • Technical Credibility: Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible experience in accounting, grants administration, budget administration, procurement, professional services contracts and/or providing administrative support to a business or organization.

"Competencies" means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.

"Typically gained by" means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.
