Job Description:

General Statement of Duties:

The Grant Writer (In House: Grant Development Specialist) will identify, research, and pursue grant funding for college projects, programs, and services in alignment with the MWCC Strategic and Operational Plans. The Grant Writer will be responsible for an array of pre-award activities including researching funding opportunities, reviewing requests for proposals and related documentation, collecting and analyzing relevant data for proposals, making recommendations for/against seeking specific grants, writing grant proposals, and establishing and leading project development teams. The Grant Writer will also be responsible for providing technical assistance in the preparation of progress reports, budget revisions, and continuation grants.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and pursues potential funding opportunities at the local, state, and national level that align to college's strategic and operational plan;

  • Reviews documentation, develops and administers needs assessment surveys and focus group sessions, and conducts demographic/statistical data research on and for grant proposals;

  • Manages and leads project design teams by providing expertise, direction, and training to staff, faculty, administrators and community organizations in the vetting, planning, and preparation of a fully developed fundable grant concept;

  • Develops and writes grant applications according to funding agency guidelines and deadlines as laid out in the annual grant development plan, proofreading and editing proposals for accuracy, completeness and clarity;

  • Performs administrative tasks associated with department activities, to include facilitating initial post award grant transition meeting, guidance and technical assistance in the preparation of progress reports, budget revisions, and continuation grants and grant administration;

  • Maintains professional knowledge in grant development and other applicable areas;

  • Follows all internal processes for grant vetting, submission and administration, including use of relevant software and databases (e.g. Amplifund, Teams, etc.).

  • Performs related tasks as assigned that support the mission of the organization.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Public Administration, Business Administration, or closely related field;

  • Three (3) years of experience and/or training that includes grant writing, research, and project planning/development; or

  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks under pressure of deadlines;

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;

  • Ability to facilitate activities of grant development teams towards a complete grant application.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience as primary writer and editor in development of large grants as evidenced by writing portfolio and history of funding success;

  • Higher education and community college grant writing experience.

Additional Information:

Campus Title: Grant Development Specialist

Salary: $57,249.00-$97,580.00

Actual Salary determined by education, experience, and any applicable grant limitations per the collective bargaining agreement. Applicants should be aware it is unlikely the salary will be at or near the top of the range.

The College's telework policy allows the successful candidate to request a hybrid work arrangement with an expectation that the successful candidate will work on campus at least two-days per week and remotely for the remainder of the time, but also being available for additional on-campus presence as needed in accordance with the telework policy. Initial onboarding will take place on campus.
