We are looking for a Grant Writer who will be responsible for conducting a full range of activities, such as, research, prepare, and submit grant proposals to local, state, and federal funders. This includes researching, compiling, writing and editing grant applications. The Grant Writer will work as a strategic partner to identify and conduct prospect research on foundations and corporations as well as government agencies for potential grant requests.
Overview and Requirements
Acquires and maintains sound knowledge of the organization, and uses that knowledge to examine projects and programs for potential grants. Identify funders (state, federal government agencies, public/private foundations, etc.) for COHC programs;
Review application guidelines to determine if a foundation, government agency, or corporation is a good match for COHC.
Write grants for federal and state government agencies, public/private foundation funders and other funding sources when applicable.
Develop professional working relationships with private and public funder contacts and monitors.
Inform Management about grant funding, application processes and required reporting activity.
Have experience with Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers funding sources.
Core Competencies/Skill Sets
Excellent written and verbal communication, analytic and computational skills. Bachelor's degree level required.
Demonstrated familiarity with government and foundation funding sources and requirements, grant proposal submission and reporting processes.
Exceptionally strong organizational, administrative, and analytical skills.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and calendaring software. Strong aptitude for learning new software programs and identifying appropriate software tools to meet organizational needs.
Ability to manage time, multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail; ability to proofread effectively.
Professional Experience/Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in communications, English, professional writing or a similar major.
MUST have experience in grant writing.
Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience, Experience with HRSA Electronic Handbooks preferred.
Bilingual preferred but not required.
