This is responsible professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, writing, and developing various public and private grant opportunities in an effort to generate new grant-funding sources and revenues for the City of Miami.

An employee in this position is expected to meet with staff from federal, state, and local agencies as part of the advocacy and negotiation process. This position works with other City departments to plan, organize, and coordinate the writing of their specific grant applications. The position will be guided by and report to the Director or other senior level staff members in this endeavor.

This job is not routine, clerical, or ministerial in nature and requires using independent judgment. Essential Functions Researches, monitors, identifies, and reviews grant opportunities from federal and non-federal entities that align with City priorities. Coordinates the grant process by working with internal and external stakeholders to solicit, gather and assemble materials (budgets, graphics, program outcomes, etc.) and submits applications by deadline.

Disseminates information to the appropriate staff as it relates to upcoming funding opportunities and funder requirements. Initiates, facilitates, and coordinates action steps in preparing and writing of grants to ensure proposal aligns with funder requirements. Implements, drafts, refines, and edits grant applications.

Writes high-quality grant proposal narratives, budgets, applications and supporting documents in collaboration with department, program managers and City staff. Draft compelling grant proposals ensuring adherence to guidelines and regulations. Maintains records and prepares reports related to submitted proposals and awarded grants.

Performs other related work as required. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree with two (2) years experience in grant writing. Previous experience writing grants for federal solicitationsis desired

Master's degree preferred. A valid

Driver's License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however prior to appointment a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) must be presented to the Department of Human Resources. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of the required experience.

Foreign diplomas/degrees must be submitted with a credential evaluation report from an approved credential evaluation agency. Translations of diploma/degrees are not accepted.

Audit/Academic reports are not accepted as substitutions for college transcripts. Copy of valid Driver's License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however, a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) is required at time of appointment and must be maintained valid throughout employment. To qualify under the equivalency clause, applicant must provide proof of education in one or more of the following applicable forms: copy of high school diploma or equivalent, transcript showing at least 60 college credits, Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree or higher in an unrelated field.

Approved Credential Evaluation Agencies: Credential evaluation reports showing the United States equivalency for academic credentials earned in other countries may be provided by: •An accredited four-year college or university in the United States, OR •A current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), OR •A current member of the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE), OR •A recognized Professional Organization For additional list of approved credential evaluation agencies visit the Florida Department of Education It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that all required documents submitted with the employment application are in a format that is acceptable, clear and legible for eligibility determination or risk being disqualified.
