Duties

Reporting to the Supervisor, provides technical assistance to early childhood program staff and administrators in Early Childhood Block Grant programs; reviews documents and serves as primary contact for program administrators and assists with problems and questions regarding early childhood programs; reviews and recommends grant applications and amendments. Serves as a liaison to Early Childhood Block Grant. Duties may also include specifically working with community-based programs, early childhood special education and early childhood compliance and policy matters.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides expertise and leadership in the development and implementation of early childhood education initiatives for children ages birth
  • 5 years and their families.
  • Reviews, negotiates and recommends disposition of project/grant applications and contractual agreements.

  • Assists in the planning and implementation of professional development on early childhood topics and initiatives.

  • Participates in the development/completion of reports and surveys.

  • Participates in internal and external early childhood committee meetings.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree plus two years of relevant professional experience. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)

  • Two years of experience (in addition to education requirements) teaching or working in early childhood programs at the state, federal or program level serving families and children ages birth to 5 years from diverse backgrounds.

  • Knowledge of cultural diversity issues and best practices and procedures for developing and delivering high quality early childhood programs for all children in a variety of settings.

  • Ability to work effectively with school districts and/or community-based organizations including child care centers and family home child care providers in planning and implementing early childhood programs.

  • Ability to work as a member of a team, to think creatively and energetically about early childhood service provision across providers.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or an Early Childhood Development field.

  • Experience working in Early Childhood Block Grant programs, head start or early childhood education policy.

  • Bilingual.

Salary/Benefits

UNION: IFSOE DEPARTMENT: Early Childhood Development ANTICIPATED STARTING SALARY RANGE: $57,461 - $72,614 FULL SALARY RANGE: $57,461 - $97,790 OFFICE HOURS: Monday

  • Friday 8:00 a.m.

  • 5:00 p.m.
