Position Title: Grant Assistant
Location: Arlington, VA
Education: Associates Degree or Two years of college level coursework in business communications, English, journalism or related area.
Job Complexity and Knowledge:
Provides support to government technical and management-level personnel. Support includes, but is not limited to receipt, logging, and analysis of proposals and recommended actions forwarded from program. This includes reviewing for completeness and ensuring that the request conforms to statues, policies and a variety of guidelines. Identifies errors and coordinates with program offices, awardee institutions, other federal agencies or other points of contact to correct.
Assists in the coordination and performance of a varied of matters in the Division's pre-award review process.
Assists in the coordination of the flow of proposals, cooperative and inter-agency agreements.
Provides assistance and support needed to ensure timely responses to requests for approvals, administrative processing of expired grants and cooperative agreements, closeout actions and other similar request for information or documents related to award or administration of NSF Grants and Agreements.
Assists in the review and coordination of acceptance document for incoming inter agency agreements.
Assist in the resolution of complex, technical and administrative problems that involve proposals and other management issues.
Provides assistance and support in reviewing special payment requests, expenditure limitations, and creating or maintaining tracking spreadsheets for such actions.
Performs a variety of administrative functions as needed to include monitoring incoming and outgoing mail, ta king calls from the DGA main phone line, and special projects.
Assist in the analysis of recipients proposed costs to determine whether they are reasonable and allowable. This includes but not limited to documenting, writing, research and editing per standardized guidelines.
Experience performing the duties described above may be substituted for the degree requirement or college level coursework on a year for year basis.
Demonstrated excellence in attendance and punctuality.
Skills and Abilities:
Competent computer and typing skills with experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and familiarity with presentation software.
Possess the ability to learn and apply knowledge of all pertinent federal, state and local regulations.
Possess the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
