PURPOSE OF POSITION: To perform grant accounting, reporting and system maintenance; for the Sponsored Program Accounting department of a Medical Center dedicated to the care of infants, children and adolescents

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting

Prepare financial status reports. Prepare adjusting journal vouchers if needed.

  • Award Management

Set up of projects and milestones reporting for grant awards with use of the PeopleSoft Financial System. Perform reconciliation and closeout of awards within PeopleSoft Financial System. Regularly review projects within assigned divisions, identifying possible issues with under- and over-expenditure as well as potential set-up problems, alerting the Director as necessary.

  • Division Management

Maintain a close working relationship with the Sponsored Programs Pre-Award and Compliance areas, and all Division lead administrators. Prepare for, coordinate, and attend (with Director or Grant Accountant III) project review meetings with Division Lead Administrators, staff, and faculty. Respond to inquiries regarding departmental financial statements

  • Invoicing

Prepare monthly invoices for cost reimbursable grants.

  • Special Projects

Assist leadership as required.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years of related experience

Preferred:

  • Experience in grant accounting or grant management

Job Summary Our clinical operations activities are growing rapidly, and we are currently seeking a full-time, office-based Investigator Grant Revenue Analyst to join our Clinical Operations team. This is a newer position that plays a critical role in the monthly/quarterly Investigator Grant (IG) Revenue Recognition (Rev Rec) process, including the estimation, analysis, and forecasting of IG revenue/expenses. This role also supports the company's continued growth through generation of IG budgets for new projects via the Request for Proposal (RFP) process. We are looking for detail-oriented, self-motivated individuals who are seeking an opportunity to further their analysis experience while contributing to strategic initiatives that will provide benefits across the company. Responsibilities * Develop, maintain, and analyze IG cost estimates/budgets for Phase I-IV clinical research projects from Request for Proposal (RFP) through project completion; * Assist with monthly/quarterly IG Rev Rec process through project evaluation, including estimating, analyzing, and forecasting IG revenue/expenses by project; * Present IG Revenue analysis results monthly to Finance and Clinical Operations teams; * Serve as IG Rev Rec Subject Matter Expert for the Company; * Partner with Clinical Operations and IT functions to execute strategic financial and operational initiatives designed to optimize and digitize IG budget tracking, forecasting/modeling, and other system/reporting enhancements; * Prepare and analyze various KPI reports for trends and escalate noted items for resolution; * Identify and take ownership of process improvement opportunities until successfully implemented; * Engage or lead special projects as needed; and * Work cross-functionally with many departments at Medpace to fulfill internal and external requests. Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting; * Ability to understand and analyze complex relationships between numerous, dynamic data points, how this impacts the Company's Rev Rec processes, and use this understanding to build accurate/complete estimates/forecasts * Clearly present complicated topics to diverse audiences in both oral and written form * Intrinsically motivated individual with a relentless attention to detail * Ability to think critically and make decisions or provide proposed courses of action despite having less than ideal information to work with * Excellent organization skills and the ability to multitask while efficiently and independently completing high quality work; * Strong working knowledge of financial and accounting processes; * Excellent computer skills, with an advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel * Prior experience in the conduct of clinical research and/or budget/proposal management experience preferred; * Basic knowledge of medical terminology and a working knowledge of drug development services desired Why Medpace?
