CHS - Shipman has an exciting opportunity in our Country Operations Division. We are looking for a Grain Operations Manager to become a member of our experienced Grain Team. You must be self-motivated, hard working, have good time management skills, able to make decisions and work independently. You must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

You Will:

  • Merchandise overall grain positions in accordance with company policy.

  • Implement and administer marketing programs with patrons.

  • Coordinate movement of grain, receiving, grading, loading, and storage among elevator facilities to maximize profitability and meet objectives of General Manager.

  • Communication with general manager and/or line merchandisers on grain positions and grain programs.

  • Communicate marketing programs with farmer patrons.

  • Keep abreast of market conditions and area crop conditions to minimize exposure and maximize profitability.

  • Communicate with branch managers and operation specialists to facilitate orderly movement of grains and administration of marketing programs.

  • Work with patrons in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Ensure a quality product through regular monitoring of grain condition.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in an Agriculture related program

  • 3 plus years of experience in grain merchandising and elevator operations

  • Grain handling experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Agriculture related program

We are looking for a Credit Assistant to work with our patrons and staff who can bring expertise to our General Manager, Location Managers, and Sales Staff. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team to accomplish responsibilities. * This position will have the flexibility to work out of our Shipman office or another Shipman Business Unit Office, pending the potential employee's current residence. You will: * Under supervision of Credit Manager, develop and extend crop loan input loan packages (extended credit programs) using interior and exterior services. * Review applications submitted for completeness. Communicate deficiencies to CHS Staff and the applicant, when appropriate. * Perform new account and annual credit limit analysis. * Monthly AR Past Due Collections to include but not limited to the production and mailing letters to customers or communicate with customers either in person or over the phone. * Prepare reports as required. * Assist in the review/audit of customer files and documentation * Educate staff on credit issues, train staff on programs and provide instruction on loan servicing and collection skills. * Administer and coordinate specially assigned extended credit programs to maximize sales while still managing risk appropriately. * Ensure that locations are administering policies and procedures as directed. * Support location staff with difficult recoveries, facilitate meetings with troubled accounts, represent Country Operations at mediations, depositions, or court hearings. Work with attorneys to negotiate outcomes. * Stay informed on events that affect our business as well as our customer's business decisions such as changes in grain prices, input prices, weather, politics, etc. * Collaborate with our Grain, Agronomy, and Energy divisions to maximize business opportunities and manage risk. * Travel to country locations to work with staff to analyze credit and accounts receivable; develop relationships with the personnel and patrons at country locations, meet with patrons to attempt to resolve issues. * Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Basic Qualifications: (required) * 5 years of experience in credit and collections * Proficient with MS Word and Excel * Ability to be flexible and prioritize tasks in a fast-changing environment. * Must have strong organizational skills * Ability to travel as needed Preferred Qualifications: (desired) * Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field * 5 years of industry experience in Agricultural lending and/or Agricultural Business * Knowledge of financial requirements for issuance of credit * Knowledge of production agriculture Chs, Inc.
