All new Henry County Schools' educators are required to attend Educator Launch - July 18-24, 2024

Essential Duties:

Build and maintain effective relationships:

  • Develop positive working relationships with school staff, parents, volunteers, and community partners.

  • Provide training for school staff, volunteers, and community partners as needs are identified.

  • Communicate with school principal or designee on a regular basis to seek input and report on program progress.

  • Develop effective partnerships with all school staff that focus on student support services.

  • Partner with all school staff to focus on student support services.

Develop School-Wide Support and Interventions:

  • Collaborate with faculty and administrators to identify and meet the needs of at-risk students.

  • Design, implement, and coordinate an array of programs, services, and resources that will benefit students at risk, as well as the entire student population.

  • Participate in school and district teams designed to develop and monitor student interventions.

  • Attend and redeliver as appropriate all required Middle School Graduation Coach training provided by the Georgia Department of Education, the District, and/or other collaborative partners.

  • Provide training and/or support to middle school and high school teachers on support measures that work with youth identified as at- risk of not graduating.

Provide Direct Service and Case Management:

  • Develop and implement individual, small group, and whole school intervention and prevention strategies to increase the likelihood that students will stay in school and graduate.

  • Incorporate a personal/social skills program (e.g., character education, motivation, goal-setting, conflict management, etc.) for at-risk students, as appropriate.

  • Provide appropriate referrals to outside agencies for students and families.

Develop Transition Programs and Vertical Teams with Elementary and High Schools:

  • Develop with feeder elementary school(s) to identify elementary school students at-risk of middle school failure.

  • Participate in vertical team meetings among elementary, middle, and high school faculty and staff.

  • Develop action steps to improve individual student and subgroup transition success rates.

  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and/or advisors to assure the development of transition programs for 5th graders and 8th graders to help students successfully adapt to the middle school experience and the rigor of high school.

Develop professional and collegial relationships with Parents/Guardians, Community Organizations, and Other Resources:

  • Connect individual students and their parents/guardians with appropriate community organizations and programs.

  • Develop or work with local mentoring programs, business and/or community partners to connect individual students with mentors.

  • Provide support and outreach to parents/guardians of students identified as being at risk of not graduating.

Assessment and Reporting:

  • Review and analyze state-wide and local assessment data, including attendance and behavioral data to identify at-risk students.

  • Conduct and analyze on-going formative and summative evaluation data of program effectiveness.

  • Utilize available data to adjust student interventions as appropriate.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

1.Bachelor's degree in social work, social sciences, education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

2.Successful experience working with schools and/or families and children, particularly at-risk students.

3.Ability to manage and analyze/disaggregate student test data. Basic skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation programs preferred.

4.Familiarity with education, health and human services, juvenile justice, and other family support services preferred.

5.Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.

6.Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.

7.Must abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.

8.Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.

9.Ability to be present at the physical worksite.



  1. Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.

  2. Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.

  3. Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.

  4. Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
