With extensive institutional and departmental knowledge, this position works within a graduate program(s) to coordinate a diverse population of students regarding their academic planning and progress.

The Department of Population Health Sciences is seeking a motivated, meticulous and professionally mature individual to oversee and administer the department's PhD program. Under the supervision of Department Chair, Director of Graduate Studies, and the Department Manager, this position will be responsible for administering the education program using a continuous improvement frame, designing curriculum, advising and supporting students, managing program funding, solving related problems and evaluating and redesigning programs. Collaborates with departments and faculty to develop course and research programs.

The Department of Population Health Sciences provides methodological expertise and infrastructure to advance capacity for impact-driven research and support clinical professionals in providing better patient and population-oriented care in an increasingly complex health care delivery system. Responsibilities

1.Plans, develops and establishes new programs and conferences to meet identified needs of educational and research groups.

2.Coordinates academic and research programs, strategic direction, marketing goal achievement and product delivery.

3.Manages and participates in the admissions process including; scheduling interviews and meetings with applicants, coordinating distribution of student materials, facilitating Admissions Committee Meetings, tracking applicants and extending admissions decisions and funding offers to applicants.

4.Oversees student recruitment including the planning and attending recruiting events locally and nationally, managing recruitment material, communicating with potential applicants, and managing the program's social media accounts and webpage.

5.Student advising responsibilities including pre-admissions advising, tracking progress through the program, and ensuring students meet program milestones.

6.Meeting regularly with students and the Director of Graduates Studies to discuss course planning, opportunities for professional development, share university resources and providing overall student support.

7.Onboarding and managing employment records for funded students.

8.Develops and administers annual education program budget.

9.Manages student funding, awards, and enrollment in the Tuition Benefit Program.



  1. Facilitate bi-annual Curriculum Committee Meetings

  2. Facilitate education meetings and retreats.

  3. Assesses the past performance of academic and research programs though program evaluations.

  4. Plan and schedule course offerings and program events.

  5. Manage program records including course evaluations, tracking core competencies, and student successes.

  6. Work closely with the Graduate School and other University of Utah departments to ensure programmatic compliance.

  7. Other duties as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

4 years' of related experience.

Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills
