Job Summary

Graduate Assistants will be responsible for assisting the Dean of Research and Graduate Studies and the Graduate School Coordinator with planning and implementing all aspects of the Graduate School.

Responsibilities

  • Design and create the weekly Graduate Bulletin;

  • Create flyers for the events that the Graduate School organizes;

  • Assist with organizing the lunch and learns for graduate students;

  • Assist with organizing the research and writing bootcamp

  • Gathering faculty presenters¿ workshop titles and photos;

  • Creating an agenda that consists of short descriptions of each workshop;

  • Creating instructional slides for each workshop;

  • Assisting in moderating and recording each workshop;

  • Uploading the videos to YouTube;

  • Manage presence of Graduate School on social media;

  • Attend weekly team meetings of the Graduate School;

  • Interviews with graduate faculty, current students and alumnae for faculty and student spotlights (Graduate Impact Series);

  • Assist with the Faculty and Graduate Research Conference;

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at CSU taking at least six (6) credit hour courses;

  • Must be willing to work 19 hours per week;

  • Basic computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related programs;

  • Proficiency with Social Media;

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and follow through on assigned responsibilities;

  • Model appropriate behavior for student leaders and the campus community;

  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team;

  • Ability to take initiative and offer suggestions and ideas ;

  • Knowledge of CSU campus.

Proposed Salary

The position comes with a tuition waiver except for $25, the student pays the other fees. The stipend is $2500 per semester.

Conditions of Employment

  • A credit check completed for Positions of Trust and or approved departmental Purchase Card usage;

  • Pre-employment drug testing for positions with high-risk responsibilities.

  • Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive a Columbus State University fleet vehicle or other vehicle designated as a fleet vehicle. A successful drug screening will be required as a condition of employment a randomly thereafter.

  • Applicants for positions of trust may be asked to disclose criminal record history during the initial screening process and prior to a conditional offer of employment.

For Faculty Hires: Final candidates will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s). Those candidates trained by a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation.
