Position Purpose

At Saint Mary's Hospital, our Registered Nurses RN in the Medical Oncology unit specialize in caring for patients with cancer who are admitted to the hospital. These nurses play a crucial role in providing compassionate care, administering treatments, managing symptoms, and supporting patients and their families during their cancer journey. The 12-month Nurse Residency Program at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT, is designed for Registered Nurses RN with less than 1-year of experience to expand the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required of a registered nurse to move from entry-level competence toward proficiency and expertise.

• Transition successfully to a competent practitioner

• Learn effective decision-making Skills

• Provide clinical nursing leadership when administering care

• Incorporate research-based evidence into practice

Minimum Qualifications

• Projected to graduate (or already graduated) from an accredited College/University and/or have less than 12 months of RN experience

• Possess a valid Connecticut RN license before the start of the program (you must possess your RN license number the Monday before the Hospital Orientation start date.)
