Meet individually with graduate students (primarily) for career related appointments and walk-in hours.
Assist with emailed resume/cv reviews as needed.
Assist with brief class visits as schedule permits.
Assist with career related events and programs.
Other duties as assigned.
Position is short-term each semester; 6-10 hours/week usually just the first six weeks of both the fall and spring semester.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or computing major.
Current KU School of Engineering graduate student in good academic standing or admitted to SoE graduate program.
Excellent written communication skills as demonstrated in the application materials.
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Professional engineering or computing experience through job or internship.
Previous experience utilizing career center services for appointments and events.
Experience advising students on career related topics.
Self-directed and motivated to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills as well as ability to interact on a professional level at all times.
