Job Description:

  • Meet individually with graduate students (primarily) for career related appointments and walk-in hours.

  • Assist with emailed resume/cv reviews as needed.

  • Assist with brief class visits as schedule permits.

  • Assist with career related events and programs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Position is short-term each semester; 6-10 hours/week usually just the first six weeks of both the fall and spring semester.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or computing major.

  • Current KU School of Engineering graduate student in good academic standing or admitted to SoE graduate program.

  • Excellent written communication skills as demonstrated in the application materials.

During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional engineering or computing experience through job or internship.

  • Previous experience utilizing career center services for appointments and events.

  • Experience advising students on career related topics.

  • Self-directed and motivated to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as ability to interact on a professional level at all times.

VIEW JOBS 10/18/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-16T00:00 Job Description Support study abroad outreach, including giving class presentations, advising students, organizing events, writing promotional materials, creating blog content, coordinating small projects, contributing to social media content, and assisting with general office needs. Collaborate on creative projects with Office of Study Abroad outreach staff to promote study abroad. Assist students interested in studying abroad; respond to email inquiries; coordinate and prepare class presentations; maintain communication with study abroad returnees; and other duties as requested. Required 15-20 hours per week between 8 AM and 5 PM for a minimum of one academic year. Occasional evening or weekend hours as needed. Peer advisors are required to participate in Peer Advisor training the week prior to the start of the semester. Required Qualifications * Enrollment in at least six (6) credit hours. * Experience on a study abroad program at the University of Kansas. * Excellent communication skills as evidenced by application materials.
