Qualifications
Associates in Nursing or Bachelors of Science in Nursing
State permit to practice as a Graduate Nurse required
Permit to practice at the specific PHS facility is completed and approved by the NMBON
Permits to practice are valid until the NCLEX examination are disseminated but not to exceed the expiration date on the permit
Under the direct supervision of a licensed RN who is physically in the same facility and/or on the same unit who can observe, direct, and evaluate the performance of the GN
The Graduate Nurse must be scheduled to take the NCLEX exam.
Graduate RNs educated in the United States may take the exam a maximum of three times within three years of first being eligible for to sit for the exam.
The applicant must wait 45 days to retest after failing the exam and meet all the NCLEX requirements for retaking the exam. (Nurse Practice Act, NM Code R. 16.12.2.10 NMAC)
Current BLS certification or within 90 days or hire.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a licensed RN, the Graduate Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift and periodizing the delivery of care using time and resources efficiently integrating an evidence and standards based framework model.
