UNIT DESCRIPTION:

7 East is a fast paced 25 bed, progressive care telemetry/stroke/trauma unit, serving the adult population with multiple comorbidities along with acute cardiac, neurologic, neurosurgical and trauma related diagnosis. We are one of the only non-ICU unit in the hospital with the capability of caring for stroke patients.

Our staff are trained to care for patients with complex requiring constant telemetry monitoring, assessing stroke patients using the NIH stroke scale (our unit has helped Holy Spirit become a Gold plus elite honor roll stroke center), and caring for multiple system trauma patients.

Our hospital is an accredited level II trauma center which has allowed us to care for a diverse population that have sustained traumatic injuries.

As a smaller unit, we have an amazing close knit team of Nurses, Nursing Assistants, Monitor Techs, Respiratory Techs, Physicians, and Case Managers who collaborate to provide exceptional patient care to our diverse patient population to allow for great patient outcomes.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Incorporates knowledge of the nursing process and the professional standards of nursing in daily practice. Applies knowledge of growth and development to perform detailed assignments/interventions. Provides consistent care based on the changing physical and psychosocial needs, unique to the patient.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Graduate Nurse with a Temporary Practice Permit or currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • AHA BLS prior to end of orientation period
