Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Design of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) services within the built environment

  • Heating and cooling load analyses for the purposes of system sizing

  • Air side and water side calculations for designing building systems

  • Report writing: writing summaries of the calculation methodologies employed

  • Giving structure to your own ideas lots of "taking a first pass" at spreadsheets, reports and analyses for discussion later rather than instruction

  • Attending meetings and learning from listening, asking questions and discussion

  • Working with people from other disciplines and/or vendors to gain knowledge on new subjects.



  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering

  • 3.0 GPA or higher

  • Coursework in HVAC design or heat transfer, Fluids and thermodynamics

  • Internship experience in engineering-related firm


  • Master's Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering

  • EIT/ FE certification

  • Membership in ASHRAE or ASME

  • Course in sustainability, Energy/thermal modeling skills, AutoCAD drafting skills

  • Internship with HVAC emphasis

Activities include detailed mechanical, structural, thermodynamic design of sub-systems and components through all phases of product development and sustainment, including concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing and service support Essential Responsibilities: 1. Develop robust designs for new and existing products that can be produced economically and according to established project timelines 2. Possess a level of functional experience and expertise necessary to work independently and to influence and execute technical and project delivery execution 3. Collaborate with Product Management to develop product specifications and requirements to drive the product development process 4. Work from existing product specifications and requirements to develop component and assembly designs, specify materials, and establish performance requirements 5. Provide budget and schedule estimates within a project (time-plan, resource needs, status reports, cost monitoring, resource usage, technology requirements, etc.) 6. Be accountable for implementing and sharing knowledge of engineering standards 7. Prepare & communicate assembly and test processes and reports 8. Prepare engineering change requests, engineering change notices, bills of material 9. Direct project workloads for drafters, designers, and engineers 10. Select and procure off-the shelf components and subsystems 11. Submit and maintain part and document information using an online PDM parts and document control tool 12. Assist Technical Service in troubleshooting field installations 16. Strong team player with effective oral and written communication skills 17. Ability to meet aggressive reliability, performance, cost, serviceability, and delivery targets Qualifications/Requirements: 1. Strong experience with Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD package required (e.g. Catia, Unigraphics, Pro/E, Solidworks) 2. Strong experience and knowledge in design and verification of mechanical structures, mechanisms, and electro/opto-mechanical assemblies using dynamics and stress analysis, basic stress, heat transfer, thermal, & FEM analysis 3. Solid proficiency in drafting of Mechanical Engineering drawings, following ANSI Y14.5 & GD&T stnadards. 4. Familiar in design with and selection of electric motors, actuators, springs, gears, bearings, fasteners 5. Applicable experience in part design and fabrication processes with metals and plastics 6. Adaptable experience in the unique demands of developing rapid prototype parts as well the processes associated with their transition into a low-rate production environment Qualifications: 1.
