SummaryThe Graduate Intern for Ministry and Service is a 12-month 30 hour/week position that promotes developmental and professional learning while pursuing a graduate degree. Serving to support the work of the Center for Ministry and Service, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and the Division of Student Affairs, the Graduate Intern will focus on student engagement in the areas of spirituality, service learning, and religious experience in partnership with members of the Center staff and the Director of Diversity and Inclusion. In addition, as a live-on staff member, the Graduate Intern will have a number of Residence Life responsibilities.Essential Job Functions:Ministry and Service Responsibilities * Work to ensure a safe, welcoming, pastoral presence within the Center for Ministry and Service * Assist in the coordination of the Center's local community service and service-learning programming under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Ministry and Service * Show discretion by initiating and coordinating a variety of ongoing and episodic service and civic engagement opportunities in partnership with community partners, the Center team, and other programs, offices, and students, faculty, and staff*
  • Establish systems and processes that will ensure that all participants are prepared for service, to include team development, cultural awareness/understanding, and reflection/learning activities * Develop comprehensive outreach and recruiting strategy through the development of promotional materials, utilizing social media, and coordinating information sessions * Oversee regular communication with community partners, student volunteers, and appropriate administrative offices at Regis * Assist with the coordination of the Regis College Service and Immersion Trip Program (in partnership with participating students, faculty, and staff * Work with the Center team to develop student-centered initiatives and co-curricular programming designed to incorporate spirituality and interreligious experience into the various dimensions of campus life, including the residence halls * Serve as a contributing member of the Center team to include support of the Serving the Dear Neighbor student organization, regular events (e.g., Convocation, Baccalaureate, Men's and Women's Nights), co-curricular courses, spiritual retreats (Kairos), and other dutiesResidence Life Responsibilities * Train in incident management and crisis protocol with the Office of Residence Life * Serve as a member of the Professional Staff On-Duty (PSOD) rotation a maximum of two days per month, to include the following responsibilities: * Respond to on-campus issues or concerns as they arise; facilitate response with appropriate parties, serve as support staff to resident assistants and Campus Police wherever needed * Communicate with appropriate offices on campus regarding the welfare of residents * Complete and distribute duty log by 9am for weekday duties * Participate in regular Residence Life meetings, including Monday morning staff meeting and any trainings related to on-call policies or proceduresSupervisory Responsibility: * This position may provide support and supervision to undergraduate work-study students.QualificationsRequired Skills & Experience: * Proven experience in managing projects and people * Interest and/or experience in student engagement and service * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Previous experience in residence life a plus * Ability to work with students and diverse constituencies * Proficiency in social media platforms* A valid driver's license desirable * Sincere interest and/or experience in campus ministry, social justice, and spirituality* A positive attitude and an understanding of the importance of being open-minded and flexible. * Ability to uphold the University's commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.Stipend & Benefits:* $6,000 stipend (12-month)* Free room and full meal plan. * Tuition remission for two (2) eligible Regis graduate courses/semester, with a maximum of six graduate courses (18 credits) per academic year. * The following campus-based programs are eligible for tuition remission: 30 credits of MA in Strategic Communication, 60 credits of MA in Counseling (24 credits are not covered by tuition remission. The supervised field experience must be completed after the graduate intern role is complete.), and 33 credits of MS in Health Administration. * The following fully online programs quality for tuition remission on a space-available basis: 36 credits of MEd in Student Success, 39 credits of MS in Accountancy (3 credits are not covered by tuition remission.), 42 credits of Master of Public Health (6 credits are not covered by tuition remission.), and 30 credits of Master of Social Work. * Courses in the graduate Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Applied Behavioral Analysis, and Doctor of Education programs are not eligible for tuition remission. * Training and professional development opportunities * Flexible scheduleNOTE: This is a 12-month position, with the opportunity to continue the position for one additional 12-month term (2 academic year maximum).Working Conditions/Physical Demands: * Conditions include a normal office environment, not subject to extremes in temperature, noise, odors, etc. * Some evening and weekend work is to be expected. * May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines, requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to do this job.
