Summary

The Graduate Intern for Information Technology Services (ITS) is a 9-month, 30-hour/week position running September through May that supports the work of the ITS Department and Helpdesk. Under the direction of the Helpdesk Manager, the Graduate Intern will work with end users utilizing software, hardware and other computer and media systems who need assistance completing tasks or troubleshooting problems. The ideal candidate is one who understands a wide variety of computer and media hardware and software and possesses an exceptional ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and solve problems. In addition to being extremely technologically articulate, this individual must be able to communicate seamlessly with a wide variety of individuals at all levels of the institution. In summary, this resource should be one who possesses a high degree of attention to detail and a strong focus on customer service while remaining comfortable in a continuously changing environment.

Please note: In order to qualify for this program / role you must be ACTIVE and Enrolled Regis College student - registered for Graduate Program by September 2024.

Essential Functions:

  • Professionally maintain the ITS Help Desk, including the front counter, forms area and equipment used by ITS Helpdesk staff.

  • Answer and/or route phone calls coming into the ITS Helpdesk.

  • Address any questions to the best of your ability, and redirect or escalate inquiries to the appropriate individual if the inquirer's needs are not met by your response.

  • Supervise public computer labs to ensure appropriate use of equipment, maintain operational effectiveness of printers, and keep the computer labs neat and ready for usage.

  • Assist users, including faculty, staff and students, in the basic use and operation of Windows, iOS and Macintosh computers, Microsoft Office/Office 365, OneDrive, Moodle, email configuration, password reset, web browsing, Android and Google applications and printer function.

  • Utilize the ITS Helpdesk ticketing system to document and report any issues brought to the attention of the Helpdesk.

  • Maintain confidentiality of students, staff and faculty in accordance with the Regis College Security Policy.

  • Assist with special projects and events within ITS.

  • Perform other related tasks as required or requested by the Sr Helpdesk / Multimedia Desktop Support Specialist, Helpdesk Manager, Assistant IT Director, or CIO.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree; admission to one of Regis College's graduate programs.

  • Demonstrated experience or interest in a helpdesk or other customer service-related position, with a demonstrated ability to maintain a helpful and positive demeanor.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with resources at all levels of a university environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a keen ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

  • Skilled in the Microsoft Office application suite and on both Apple and Windows platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and data.

  • Experience working in a collegiate setting is a plus.

  • Available to work Flexible schedule with possible evening and weekend opportunities.

  • Assigned shift(s) of 30 Hours per week, within posted hours of operation. Sunday-Saturday 8a-7p.

Stipend & Benefits:

  • $4,000 stipend (paid over 9 months).

  • Tuition remission for two (2) eligible Regis graduate courses/semester, with a maximum of six graduate courses (18 credits) per academic year.

  • The following campus-based programs are eligible for tuition remission: 30 credits of MA in Strategic Communication, 60 credits of MA in Counseling (24 credits are not covered by tuition remission. The supervised field experience must be completed after the graduate intern role is complete.), and 33 credits of MS in Health Administration.

  • The following fully online programs quality for tuition remission on a space-available basis: 36 credits of MEd in Student Success, 39 credits of MS in Accountancy (3 credits are not covered by tuition remission.), 42 credits of Master of Public Health (6 credits are not covered by tuition remission.), and 30 credits of Master of Social Work.

  • Courses in the graduate Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Applied Behavioral Analysis, and Doctor of Education programs are not eligible for tuition remission.

  • Training and professional development opportunities.

  • Flexible schedule with possible evening and weekend opportunities.

NOTE: This is a 9-month position, with the opportunity to continue the position for one additional 9-month term (18-month maximum).

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Any programs that exceed 18 credits may conflict with intern position duties. Graduate Intern study in the Graduate Nursing, Applied Behavioral Analysis and Counseling programs must be approved by the hiring manager and Human Resources.

  • The Regis Graduate Intern program is limited to the attainment of a master's degree and does not include doctoral programs.

  • Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in temperature, noise, odors, etc.

  • May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines, requiring hand- eye coordination and finger dexterity.

  • Must maintain flexibility in a work schedule to effectively support the needs of a collegiate environment, including working nights and weekends.
