Graduate Intern Firmware Engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities may be quite diverse of a technical nature. U.S. experience and education requirements will vary significantly depending on the unique needs of the job. Job assignments are usually for the summer or for short periods during breaks from school.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Applicants will creatively apply the technical know-how (engineering fundamentals, scientific knowledge, systems thinking, analytical thinking, prototyping, and testing knowledge) against design constraints and boundary conditions (industrial design, cost, performance criteria and other design constraints) to research, develop and productive mass producible solutions.

Qualifications

Candidate must possess minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences. This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications:

The candidate must be pursuing a The candidate must be pursuing a Ms. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science.

Minimum 6+ months of experience or equivalent coursework in the following areas:

  • Programming in C/C++

  • Design/implementation of multitasking, event driven firmware using C (or C++)

  • RTOS concepts including task switching, deadlocks, and resource management

  • Analyzing issues, diagnosing root cause, and suggesting corrective actions

Preferred Requirements:

Minimum 6+ months of experience or equivalent coursework in the following areas:

  • ARM or equivalent processors

  • Storage interface standards such as SATA, SAS, PCIe, or Fiber Channel new hardware, including boot loader and code update

  • Windows and Linux drive
