Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Subsea and Export Systems is currently recruiting for a Graduate GIS Specialist to join our GIS and Data Management Team in Houston, Texas (Energy Corridor)

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team that support a variety of clients, projects, and internal business partners, through innovative use of GIS and other digital technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project GIS databases including data loading, quality assurance and metadata.

  • Produce maps, charts, reports and other data deliverables for internal and external issue.

  • Develop and maintain map services and other content for web-based GIS portals.

  • Respond to project queries on a daily basis.

  • Collaborate with engineers and designers on pipeline routing and other GIS analysis tasks.

  • Participate in project meetings and workshops.

  • Contribute to GIS data specifications and other technical material.

  • Support internal and external training programs on GIS applications.

  • Raise awareness and support the wider adoption of GIS technology through workshops, presentations and marketing materials.

Skills / Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, another Geoscience, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. Course modules, projects or thesis must include significant GIS components.

  • Experience with the ESRI product suite including ArcGIS 10.

  • A keen interest in engineering, technology and data.

  • Experience using geodatabases.

  • A good understanding of coordinate systems and transformations.

  • Strong team and inter-personal skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly numerate and analytical (accuracy, carefulness and thoroughness are essential requirements in the job).

  • Highly organized and able to meet deadlines in a timely manner.

  • Capable of learning new software, processes and procedures as projects require.

  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Desired Qualifications/Experience:

  • Knowledge of linear referencing and pipeline data models e.g. PODS, APDM.

  • Experience using ArcGIS 3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst.

  • Experience using Autodesk applications.

  • Database management and software programming experience.
