McNeese State University is seeking a graduate student to fill the position for a Graduate Assistant for the Fuller Farm M.S. Graduate Assistantship.

Location: Kinder/Lake Charles, Louisiana

Job Information/Job Category: This is a part-time, temporary, student, graduate assistantship position.

Student employees are considered temporary and are not eligible for benefits. All student employees are processed by the HR & Student Employment Office and are hourly paid, non-benefits eligible employees.

Hourly Rate: $15.00/ hour 20-40 hrs per week plus a reduction in tuition fees.

Responsibilities

The selected applicant will work under the McNeese Department of Agricultural Sciences towards a thesis as a candidate for Master's Degree in Environmental and Chemical Sciences. There is some flexibility in the area of research that the candidate may select to study. Research will primarily concern fruit/vegetable crop production, but will additionally involve horticulture, beef cattle production, row crop production, and youth/community outreach.

Qualifications

  • Must be a student in or an applicant for admission to the Master of Science in Environmental and Chemical Sciences program

  • In addition to the general requirements for admission to Graduate School, applicants for admission to the Master of Science in Environmental and Chemical Sciences program must meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum score of 1100 on the GRE formula (150 x undergraduate GPA + GRE [Verbal + Quantitative] score).

  • Bachelor of Science degree in one of the sciences (or science education) and adequate preparation for a particular concentration as determined by the admissions committee and/or coordinator for the degree program.
