Other Conditions: Two (2) position vacancies. General and/or Special funds. Appointment to begin in July 2024 or soon thereafter. Continuation dependent on satisfactory performance, department needs and availability of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under supervision of the Director of OSAS: assist the Office of Student Academic Services (OSAS) with the admissions, recruitment, advising, retention, and graduation of students in the College of Education.

  • Provide academic advising services to students, including assessing their interests and abilities, examining their educational goals, developing short- and long-term goals, making decisions, and creating academic plans to meet their objectives.

  • Assist in the administration of COE student support programs, workshops, activities, and other events for students.

  • Coordinate work with school and community sites and teachers. Assist with the development of service learning opportunities.

  • Assist with fiscal processing and maintenance of program budgets.

  • Develop and manage program Excel database, document program and project activities, tabulate surveys and evaluations.

  • Assist other activities supporting program implementation as developed. Assist with the administration of scholarships and stipends.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Admitted, full-time graduate student in good academic standing (GPA of 3.0 or above) at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa,

  • Able to work 20 hours per week in an office setting,

  • Experience and willingness to coordinate the areas of logistics, communication, and budgets for projects;

  • Able to coordinate event activities, including those on evenings and weekends;

  • Able to work independently, responsibly and collaboratively;

  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, and individuals;

  • Experience working in multicultural settings;

  • Good writing, communication, presentation, and organizational skills;

  • Experience using social media, Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;

  • Able to travel to schools and other locations as needed.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a UHM College of Education master's or doctoral degree program;

  • Experience in conducting training sessions;

  • Demonstrated knowledge of teacher preparation and Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science (KRS) programs;

  • Knowledge of STAR Academic Logic DB;

  • Experience in developing and maintaining databases;

  • Demonstrated experience working with Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander or Filipino student populations.
