Job Description:

BASIC PURPOSE: In support of the mission of the University this position assists CDIC staff members in creating and supporting marketing strategies and managing the department's website and social media channels. Helps to plan and execute the CDIC's large events, including career fairs, networking nights, and other professional events. (90%) Advises undergraduate students on aspects of their career development, including resumes, cover letters, personal statements, and LinkedIn profiles. (10%)

STATUS: This is a 20 hour per week, 40 week/year position from August 2024 - May 2025. Compensation includes minimum wage for hours worked and free tuition in an Assumption University graduate program. Tuition includes 3 courses in the fall and 3 in the spring (fees not included) until graduate degree completed or employment ends, whichever occurs first. If you return to your position for the 2025 - 2026 academic year, you are entitled to two additional summer courses in the summer of 2025.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assist members of the CDIC in maintaining and revamping content on the CDIC's website to be engaging and relevant to students, employers, faculty, and staff. Collaborate with the vendor, employers, faculty, staff, and alumni to create relevant content for students. Review engagement results and adjust strategy accordingly.

  • Collaborate with the Director of the Center for Purpose and Vocation and Alumni Relations on recruiting and communicating with alumni to write and publish the Hounds with Purpose blogs.

  • Manage CDIC social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, Handshake, and LinkedIn by creating written and visual content.

  • Create, execute, and re-evaluate a year-long marketing and social media strategy based on industry research, consumer insights and engagement percentages. Collaborate with work study students to execute strategy.

  • Promote internship, post-graduate opportunities, and events to students using Microsoft Outlook, social media, CDIC CareerSuccess (website) and Handshake. (recruiting system)

  • Collaborate with other members of the CDIC to manage and coordinate large CDIC events such as career fairs, networking events, etc.

  • Advise undergraduate students on aspects of their career development, including resumes, cover letters, personal statements, and LinkedIn profiles.

  • Collect and analyze student survey feedback. (graduate school interviews, Career Networking Night feedback, career fairs, etc.)

  • Collaborate with faculty each semester to solicit recommendations on featured courses for the "Career Communities" section of CDIC CareerSuccess.

  • Support CDIC staff members with collecting graduates' post-graduate outcomes as part of the Graduation and First Destination Surveys.

  • Contribute to team meetings and complete additional project work as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director for Career and Student Success Strategies and the Assistant Director of the CDIC.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a current graduate student at Assumption University in good academic standing.

  • Willingness to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.

  • Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years customer service, event planning or administrative experience required. Internship experience may be substituted for work experience.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Effective time management, organization and project management skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to be proactive, innovative, and creative.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Illustrator, Canva, LinkedIn, and Social Media technology.

  • Marketing & Graphic Design experience a plus.

  • Experience with Handshake and/or other CSM systems a plus.

Additional Information:

SCOPE:

  • Interacts on a regular basis with greater Worcester businesses as well as the Assumption University community, including faculty members, administration, staff, alumni, and students.

  • Work includes evening and weekends as needed for department events, presentations, or other college events.
