Macalester College seeks to hire a Graduate Assistant in Career Counseling to work in its Career Development Center. This position will be responsible for providing individual career counseling to current students and alumni on issues related to self-assessment, occupational research, decision-making, goal setting, job and internship searching and graduate school planning.
Provides career-counseling hours to students and alumni.
Reviews job search correspondence and graduate school application materials.
Administers and interprets a variety of assessment tools, particularly the StrengthsFinder.
Engages in weekly supervision with career counselors; participates in group case consultation; attends Career Development Center weekly staff meetings.
Plans and implements outreach activities to academic departments.
Participates in Student Affairs divisional meetings and staff professional development opportunities.
Graduate student in counseling, psychology, student personnel, student affairs, or related programs.
Exposure to career development concepts through formal coursework.
Demonstrated counseling, presentation, and writing skills.
Interest in working with a diverse student population.
Well-developed boundaries; display high level of maturity; strong sense of ethics.
Ability to work 15 to 20 hours per week; occasional evenings and weekend.
