DEPARTMENT: Office of Admission and Financial Aid (OAFA)

NORMAL WORK HOURS: 10 hours per week, Flexible

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Admission

POSITION SUMMARY: This temporary role is for the 2024-25 academic year, beginning on August 2024, with a commitment of approximately 10 hours per week throughout the fall and spring semesters, and a commitment of 20-25 hours per week during the January Intersession, which is the primary application reading period. While there will be some opportunities for remote work during application reading, this is primarily an in-person role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the recruitment efforts of the College as a member of the Admission and Financial Aid team; represent Olin to prospective students and families both on- and off- campus and virtually; plan and present group information sessions, participate in all aspects of admission counseling for prospective students, parents, and guardians, which could include but would not be limited to responding to email and phone inquiries, meeting with visitors to campus, local recruitment travel, etc.

  • Review applications for admission, through holistic evaluation of academic performance and potential and alignment with the Olin mission and culture. Make recommendations to the Admission Committee. Assist in application processing, as needed.

  • Support and advocate for the recruitment of women and underrepresented groups as part of the college's commitment to diversity, equity, access and inclusion. All members of the OAFA team are critical to the success of this important goal.

  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may include some or all the following:

  • research projects

  • the support and execution of on-campus recruitment events

  • liaising with other units of the College to support the enrollment function

  • partnering with Financial Aid to support the goals of the OAFA unit

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous Admission experience, preferably in a selective admission program preferred; strong technical skills, including Microsoft Office, CRMs, (experience with HTML and other web/social media tools a plus); valid driver's license; ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as necessary.

Skills desired:

  • Project management experience, particularly with long-term, multi-phase projects

  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and team-building skills

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking

  • Ability to work effectively with both internal and external college constituents

  • Experience with Slate

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to values of equity, access, and belonging.

Additional Requirements:

To be considered for this opportunity, a candidate should:

  • Be a matriculated graduate student. Enrollment in a CSP, Counseling, or Higher Education Administration program preferred. Non-matriculated students engaged in appropriate coursework may be considered.
