This graduate assistantship is within the Office of Student Health Promotion (SHP) within the Division of Student Affairs. The SHP Graduate Assistant's (GA) major function is to assist in the operation of the Sycamore Pantry and provide health education programming. They are expected to carry out their responsibilities in a manner that will further personal growth in students and promote self-awareness within the community at large. The GA is supervised by the Director of Student Health Promotion, under the guidance of the Dean of Students.; In short, the Graduate Assistant position responsibilities include: Education and Outreach, Administrative, including operating the Sycamore Pantry, Service to Individual Students, and Supervision of Undergraduate Student Assistants.
Specific Responsibilities Work Schedule
20 hours per week; Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00pm with some evenings and weekends required

Described below are areas of Student Health Promotion in which the Graduate Assistant (GA) has significant responsibilities. Within the total job description, as well as the specific responsibilities, the GA is encouraged to develop their own style, educational philosophy, and professional temperament to best meet the needs of students at Indiana State University.
Administrative Functions
The physical environment in which a student resides provides a foundation upon which the community growth and development can occur in a productive and positive manner. As a University official, the Graduate Assistant must have a thorough knowledge of the objectives of the University, the Division of Student Affairs, and Student Health Promotion. The following administrative responsibilities are seen as important aspects of the GA position:
Service to Individual Students
Education and Outreach
The primary responsibility of the GA is to help develop and coordinate educational efforts in the area of health and wellness. The GA and the Director of Student Health Promotion are responsible for implementing initiatives to meet the needs of the campus community. Together, they will utilize the Sycamore Standard as their developmental plan for programming. Educational initiatives are meant to maximize the individual's well-being and to establish lifestyle patterns that promote well-being throughout the students' lives.
Student Health Promotion has an obligation to educate students about the choices available to them and provide an excellent arena for out of class learning. Listed below are the expectations for the GA in their role as programmer:
