Job Description:
Reporting to the Associate Provost for Equity and Belonging (APEB), the Graduate Assistant for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) will support the Associate Provost for Equity and Belonging by providing administrative assistance, promoting DEIJ initiatives, and supporting initiatives related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.
Specific Responsibilities
Provide administrative support for the APEB, Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI), and all aspects of DEIJ focused initiatives, programs, and events.
Assist with outreach to campus constituents and marketing.
Research DEIJ topics and prepare and maintain reports of findings as needed.
Maintain records and data in Campus Groups of all Cultural Student Groups programing.
Staff tabling events at various campus locations on behalf of the ODEI.
Work on special projects and provide support to staff, programs, and services.
Other duties as assigned by the APEB.
Requirements:
Qualifications
Enrolled in a graduate program at McDaniel College.
Strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Comfortable with public speaking.
Demonstrate initiative, time management and attention to detail.
Proficient in MS Office Suite
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Professional demeanor is a must
Physical Characteristics
This position requires sitting for long periods of time, as well as some bending and stooping when working with files. This position requires some physical activity including participation walks into downtown Westminster, and ice-breaker type activities. This position does have some limited lifting involved but not more than 10 pounds at a time. Quite a bit of finger/hand dexterity is involved in regard to typing and/or filing. The overall setting of the job is in an area conducive to a normal office environment with minimal exposure to adverse conditions.
