This position provides experience in marketing, promotions, communication, digital and social media, and design/layout. This position supervises a student marketing team in the promotion and communication of all programs and facilities housed in Counseling and Psychological Services, Well-Being and Rec including the following: Aquatic Center, Bird Ice Arena, Charles J. Ping Recreation Center, Golf and Tennis Center, Driving Range, Walter Fieldhouse, Well-Being & Fitness, Intramural and Club Sports, and Outdoor Pursuits. In addition, the marketing team works to brand the department as one cohesive unit to include both university and department brand standards, consistency in the output of marketing materials and social media accounts, and a consistent voice for Counseling and Psychological Services, and Well-Being and Rec

Additionally, this position will serve as a contact for University Communications and Marketing, and the Division of Student Affairs Marketing Team to provide content and information for University communications and social media accounts. The OHIO Well-Being and Recreation marketing team work closely to enhance department communication and ensure our users and staff receive regular, current communication to share opportunities for students to engage in our programs and facilities while promoting Ohio University's commitment to Well-Being.

The Graduate Assistant for Marketing will be challenged with promoting Well-Being & Recreation to the OHIO population and surrounding Athens community. As a Graduate Assistant, you will collaborate with the student marketing staff and the Director of Operations and Engagement to oversee the department's Marketing and Communication annual plan and implementation. This position will be tasked with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the marketing department including the oversight of marketing requests, intake, and material distribution, project management and supervision of student staff to develop a cohesive marketing and communication plan for all programs and activities to include digital media materials, direct mail, digital newsletter content, flyers, orientation and community guides, posters, social media content and digital advertisements.

This position will need to be driven, creative, and an independent thinker as you will be challenged with promoting to diverse audiences. This position requires collaboration in supporting the promotion and registration of department events and programs while maintaining University marketing standards, brand and values.

Direct oversight for the following: Social Media Accounts, RISE Vision (Digital Displays), OHIO CUE Calendar, Airtable project management and intake, OHIO Well-Being and Recreation Website, student staff/

Actively contributes as a student staff member of the Department and Division that upholds the framework of equity and social justice. Performs job duties in a manner that appreciates diversity and fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members of the OHIO community. Actively participates in professional development opportunities when available and maintains current knowledge of emerging trends, best practices and related issues regarding all relevant areas of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communication, Public Relations, Advertising, Business or related

field preferred

  • Acceptance into the Graduate Studies program at Ohio University
  • Must carry a class load equivalent to a full time Graduate Assistant (12 hours per

semester).

  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Demonstrate the willingness and ability to lead and learn
  • Proficient computer skills as well as strong written and oral communication skills
  • High level of professionalism in dealing with customers, professional staff, and student

employees

  • Experience supervising a team or group of staff
  • Creative thinker with strong communication and project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred
  • Comprehensive experience in project management software: Trello, Airtable, Teamwork,

etc.

  • Experience in InnoSoft Fusion
  • Experience in Drupal or other content management systems
  • Experience in Well-Being & Recreation either as a user or employee

Department VP For Student Affairs Pay Rate

$13,500 annual stipend for 20 hours of work per week or 300 hours per semester; $14.52/hour during Academic Breaks
