Saint Joseph's College of Maine is accepting applications for the position of Graduate Assistant - Career Studio for 2024-2025!
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Graduate Assistant will support the Career Studio by concentrating on assisting with student support services, assisting with campus programming/events, building relationships with faculty and employers, assisting with digital marketing and monitoring digital platforms, data collection; and serving as a campus liaison and versatile contributor of the Career Studio.
Serves as a versatile contributor to the Career Studio by:
Assisting in Student Support Services
Supports Career Studio with student leader development and programs
Responsible for providing individualized career support services for students
Connects students with community members to support their overall experience during their time at SJC
Supports Career Studio on career curriculum course content structure and activities
Assists in administrative tasks and duties supporting career; i.e. Career Studio email, triage questions, and monitoring career-related support questions
Assisting with Campus Programming/Events and Building Faculty/Employer Relationships
Assists Career Studio in defining, developing and managing project plans for student development and support-related programming
Collaborates with and supports the efforts of professional staff members who focus on career programming review, student success, and institutional planning
Collaborates with the Manager of Career Studio in scheduling and participating at in-class career-related presentations
Engages with faculty regarding career studio programming
Supports Career Studio staff and faculty with internship processes and employer relations
Assists Manager of Career Studio with planning and recruiting employers to attend the annual Career Fair
Assists Manager of Career Studio with organizing and implementing employer visits
Regularly eats on campus during the week to engage with students, assist in programming, and monitor events
Serves on committees both formal and ad hoc as assigned
Assisting with Social Media, Marketing, and Digital Platforms
Assists with Career Studio social media content creation and distribution and, under the supervision of the Manager of Career Studio, assists with upholding a consistent professional brand
Assists with creating digital graphics for career support service materials and programming/events (i.e. career-support flyers, pamphlets, brochures) to be used in career support meetings and displayed in the Career Studio
Under the supervision of the Manager of Career Studio, monitor the utilization of Handshake (i.e. approving jobs, approving events, assisting in scheduling student appointments, creating email communications)
Data Collection
Provides administrative support of survey development, student retention, data collection and analysis
Assists, as necessary, in grant proposal, preparation and submission, including but not limited to: basic editing, graphics coordination, proposal and submission management
Additional duties as may be assigned
Campus Liaison
Collaborates with Campus Life and Academic Affairs to offer support through New Student Orientation and Fall Move-In weekend
Attends Open Houses and Admitted Student Days offered by Admissions
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree
Must be matriculated in a graduate degree program at Saint Joseph's College before the actual start date for the GA assignment
Available up to, but not to exceed, 20 hours per week
