About Goucher College:
Goucher College, a selective liberal arts college located twenty minutes north of Baltimore, and the first college in the nation to require students to study abroad, seeks a graduate assistant for athletic training. Goucher College has 21 intercollegiate teams competing in the NCAA Division III as a part of the Landmark Conference, as well as an equestrian program that competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association.
The graduate assistant will work under the direction of the head and assistant athletic trainers. Primary responsibilities include providing prevention, evaluation, and treatment of athletic injuries and illnesses, including surgical cases; maintaining accurate medical records and documentation using injury tracking software; providing counseling and education to student-athletes; serving as a preceptor for a local CAATE accredited educational program; and assisting with coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for contests and practices.
The graduate assistant will also assist with administrative duties including creating injury reports for coaches, submitting insurance claims, and scheduling doctor appointments; scheduling and administering the pre-participation exams and neurological baseline testing required of all intercollegiate teams; and assisting with the overall operation and the administrations of the athletic training function within the department.
The graduate assistant must successfully enroll as a full-time graduate student in a qualifying program and will be offered full tuition remission and a competitive stipend for this two-year position.
The successful candidate must have a bachelor's degree in athletic training and be BOC certified by the position start date. The candidate must also be a member in good standing with the Nation Athletic Trainers' Association, and maintain certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED for the Professional Rescuer.
Qualified candidates must have at least an overall 3.0 undergraduate GPA to be considered for admission to the Graduate Programs in Education, and must have at least two years of driving experience on a state-issued license. The successful candidate will be subject to a background check as a condition of employment. This position, available Fall 2019, is approximately 20 hours per week and will require weekend and evening work, as well as some team travel.
