Job Description:
Wittenberg University is searching for a Graduate Assistant (GA) for Athletic Operations beginning in the 2024 fall semester (8/1/24). The university offers a Master's in Sport Administration program that focuses on all aspects of athletic administration. The Graduate Assistantship and enrollment in the master's program will afford the successful candidate the ability to directly apply knowledge in the classroom to the duties they perform within the athletic department. This is a non-exempt, hourly position working no more than 20 hours per week.
The GA for Athletic Operations assists the Athletic Administration staff with all aspects of the Athletic Department operations.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
Oversight of the Health, Wellness & Athletics Complex (HWA) during evening hours of operation, which includes the supervision of student employees.
Service to Institution as assigned by Director of Athletics & Recreation reporting to the Assistant AD for Internal Operations and the Director of Facilities in Athletics
Game day operations for Home Athletic Competitions including but not limited to: ticketing, concessions, facility set-up and tear-down.
Adherence to NCAA, conference, departmental, and university policies, procedures, and expectations.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects, programs, developmental activities, etc.
Requirements:
For this position, we require that candidates have a bachelor's degree in sports management or related field; some related experience; and acceptance into Wittenberg's Master's in Sport Administration program. Candidates must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and be able to effectively and appropriately interact with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, peers, community members, and administrators. Knowledge in the following areas is also required:
A valid driver's license is required; must meet required insurance qualifications found in Wittenberg Motor Pool policies and procedures. If license is from out of state, successful candidate will need to obtain a valid Ohio driver's license within 30 days of hire date. Travel is required as well as some evening, night, and weekend work.
Being authorized to work in the United States is a pre-condition of employment.
