Role and Responsibilities

As a Senior Staff GPU Architect, you will research or design the new GPU features such as Ray Tracing, Machine Learning, AR/VR and more while help driving a team to implement and get performance estimate of such new feature. You have a curious mindset that thrives on navigating the unknown through innovation and continuous learning. Your expertise will add impacts to our current and future plans strategy.

You will manage high-impact projects/ initiatives to collect performance new estimate and implement a prototype system containing new GPU features.

  • You are an aspiring leader who works with RTL designers and software team to determine the risk and gain of such new GPU features.

  • You enjoy identifying and distilling complex problems or situations by seeking the root causes and engaging others to brainstorm possible outcomes. You will use effective decision-making skill to come up with the best solution based on comprehensive data sources and sound judgment to align to current organizational needs.

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum requirements

  • 15+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/relevant technical field, or 13+ years of experience with a Master's degree, or 11+ years of experience with a PhD

  • C, C++ and python programming in a Linux environment

  • Experience with development tools such as revision control systems, debuggers, and make/cmake

  • 10+ years of experience with GPU architecture design and modelling OR 10+ years of experience with GPU module and micro-architecture design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with OpenGL, Vulkan, DirectX or Metal

  • Experience with CUDA or OpenCL and machine learning

  • Experience with AR/VR solution implementation

  • Creative problem solver

  • Effective interpersonal communications skills

Our GPU Architect team delivers whole system architecture-level design for Samsung's current and next-generation mobile GPU. Depending on the functional discipline, they're responsible for anywhere from early-stage architectural exploration, research work focusing on graphic and machine learning, defining new features, modeling, to diving into microarchitecture design and programming work.

Total Rewards

At Samsung - SARC/ACL, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $174,557 and $305,414. Your actual base pay will depend on variables that may include your education skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.

Samsung employees have access to benefits including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), free onsite lunch, employee purchase program, tuition assistance (after 6 months), paid time off, student loan program, wellness incentives, and many more. In addition, regular full-time employees (salaried or hourly) are eligible for MBO bonus compensation, based on company, division, and individual performance.

Additionally, this role might be eligible to participate in long term incentive plan and relocation.
