Responsibilities:

The GPS Requirements Systems Engineer is part of the Global Positioning System (GPS) Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) team in El Segundo, CA.

This individual will identify, control, maintain, and evolve an enterprise requirements baseline reflecting Government approved requirements and maintain requirements in the DOORS tool. Candidate will provide SE&I requirements management support to the Space/Ground/User programs in support of the Space and Missile Systems Center GPS Directorate (SMC/GP). Major tasks include:

  • Working with teammates, customers, and stakeholders to identify and manage critical dependencies between programs and projects within the GPS Directorate

  • Supporting establishment of the system's technical baseline and ensure changes to the approved baseline are allocated, communicated and synchronized with contractors' technical baselines

  • Ensuring all operational, enterprise, program, and interface requirements are appropriately documented and maintained in the DOORS database and flowed to the correct specifications and interfaces

  • Validating flow-down of intra-program requirements from the system specification for bi-directional traceability between the requirements baseline and the source documents

  • Interfacing and collaborating with SE&I team members, prime contractors, other team contractors, government civilians, and members of the US Air Force.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Active Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering or Math

  • 9+ years relevant experience DoD or other Government space programs

  • Experience with GPS systems/elements or experience working Space-based systems/navigation systems

  • Experience with requirements database tools to develop and manage requirements and perform traces

  • Experience writing and delivering technical documents and briefings

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to interface with different personalities

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to enable working, interfacing, and interrelating with diverse personnel

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently execute work tasks

Desired:

  • Master's Degree in Science, Engineering or Math

  • GPS experience and/or Military service

  • Experience using IBM Rational DOORS 9.X, Microsoft Project (2010 or later)

  • Experience as a DOORS administrator

The Requirements Engineer will be responsible for interfacing with multiple stakeholders to assess and understand the requirements to ensure that user stories are consistent and applicable across all products. The Requirements Engineer is responsible for overseeing functional and non-functional requirements for multiple products within the project team. The Requirements Engineer's primary duties include managing and verifying requirements; capturing detailed descriptions of user needs and product functionality; and ensuring the project team has clear, consistent and testable requirements documented in user stories and completion criteria. The Requirements Engineer will also reconcile conflicts; decompose high-level information into the appropriate level of detail for team members; and participate in peer reviews of requirements documentation.
