GPS Global Head, PHC Digital Health Strategy
Within our Global Product Strategy (GPS) Personalized Healthcare Center of Excellence, the newly created position of Global Head, Digital Health Strategy (GPS) will be the go-to expert for all aspects of Digital Health product and market strategy in GPS. This individual will partner with other key internal functions such as Digital Health Platforms, Medical Affairs, GPS therapeutic areas and others to develop and oversee the strategy and capabilities required to effectively launch a portfolio of Digital Health assets to the market.
Roche is investing in digital health tools that inform and tailor clinical decision-making by generating or using real world clinical grade data, including sensor-based measures (e.g. via a smartphone, wearables or other sensors and connected devices) and digital tools to integrate data into care.
These innovations are already recognized for their potential to transform R&D by through new, more sensitive outcome measures. They also have the potential to change clinical practice by enabling objective, sensitive and real-time assessment of e.g. disease progression, which could considerably shift how patients care for themselves, how treatment decisions are made, and how the impact of treatments is measured and valued.
Priorities and deliverables
Working closely with therapeutic areas, affiliates and key partner functions (including Digital Health Platforms, Pharma Product Development, GPS, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Informatics, Roche Diagnostics, Roche Diabetes Care and others), craft a Digital Health strategy for Roche Pharma that drives value creation across Roche disease areas.
Identify and resolve Global and affiliate capabilities gaps to build, launch and scale Digital Health offerings aligned to the Roche portfolio, with a focus on commercial go-to-market capabilities
Establish and drive digital health business models that enhance Roche Pharma's ability to create value; define path to refine and deploy business models in both pipeline and on-market settings throughout the lifecycle of a tool
In partnership with affiliates, lead the deployment of digital health tools on market by:
Ensuring user, and especially patient, experience is central to designing, developing, scaling and deploying new solutions and services
Ensuring digital health tools and their outputs can be integrated into decision making touchpoints to maximize actionability and deliver better outcomes and care delivery for patients
Ensuring on-market strategy and execution of digital health tools and medicines are completely aligned to deliver a seamless, high quality overall experience in the disease
Driving Global and affiliate on-market adoption of digital health tools
Attracting, retaining & developing a world class team, upskilling affiliate and Global partners, and supporting fit for purpose internal resourcing models
In combination with other key internal functional leaders, establish governance mechanisms to prioritize, fund, and manage a digital health portfolio, including decisions regarding internal build vs. external (partnerships or acquisition)
Provide GPS Digital Health expert guidance to all functional areas
Build industry partnerships & relationships to amplify impact

Regularly report updates to Personalized Health Care Center of Excellence and corporate stakeholders regarding progress on strategic priorities, and collaborate internally and externally to accelerate progress
Desired Expertise & Experience
10+ years of experience as a business leader in the digital and/or pharmaceutical industry
Deep experience of and insights into digital health market
Proven track record of successfully launching and marketing digital health products
Significant experience developing on-market strategies for consumer-oriented or patient-oriented digital products
Founder experience in healthcare startups is a plus
Track record of building and managing high-performance teams
Comfort and experience engaging senior leaders in digital health discussions, with the ability to actively shape these conversations and build credible and empowered relationships
Experience with digital health regulations around mobile medical apps, digital therapeutics, and real world evidence a plus
