POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a professional position that serves as the Accounts Receivable Supervisor for the Florida Department of Health in Broward County (DOH-Broward), and oversees the billing functions of all medical and dental services.
The essential functions of this position are as follows:
Responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate.
Incumbent is responsible for approving direct reports' timesheets, as well as supervising and counseling staff. Motivates employees to improve the quality and quantity of work performed.
Plans workloads, workflows, work objectives and time utilization with employees. Evaluates direct reports performance through establishing performance indicators and conducting periodic performance reviews. This includes meeting with employees to ensure the established criteria are met.
Trains employees in methods for performing an effective and efficient job. Communicates with employees both individually and in staff meetings. Direct the work of employees to ensure best use of time and resources.
Responsible for directing and conducting, as necessary, all billing for Department medical and dental services through HMS, including but not limited to, verification of insurance, submitting claims, posting payments, reviewing and correcting denials, training front desk, cashier, data entry and billing staff, generating and reconciling reports and performing QA. Ensures claims are submitted and payments are posted in a timely and accurate manner.
Promptly corrects all denials. Monitors the amount billed on a weekly basis, and when discrepancies occur from expected, immediately informs the relevant managers, finds the root cause and implements a corrective action plan. Monitors outstanding accounts receivable and produces weekly reports, keeping outstanding AR below DOH requirements.
Trains front desk, cashier, data entry and accounts receivable staff initially and on an ongoing basis. Negotiates reimbursement rates with Medicaid Managed Care Plans and other 3rd party payers as necessary and appropriate and communicates with them on an ongoing basis to resolve issues that arise. Responsible for initial and ongoing credentialing of all Department medical and dental providers. Works with Program and Clinic Managers to ensure accurate and complete ICD10 coding.
Enters all metrics into Active Strategy Enterprise in a timely and accurate manner. Creates Variance Reports as required and ensures the implementation of corrective action plans.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge and application of MS Office including but not limited to Excel, and Word, Provide Enterprise.
Ability to analyze, organize, and present technical and programmatic information effectively in written and oral form.
Experience as an Accounts Receivable Supervisor in a medical or dental practice, including but not limited to, verification of insurance, submitting claims, posting payments, reviewing denials, training front desk, cashier and billing staff, generating and reconciling reports, auditing and QA.
Knowledge and experience with ICD 10 coding.
Experience billing Medicaid managed care plans.
Experience supervising paid staff, including but not limited to, recruitment and selection, setting work schedules, training, performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable automobile to be utilized for work purposes.
At least 3 years of experience as an Accounts Receivable Supervisor in a medical or dental practice.
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or a related field.
