POSITION DETAILS

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for External Affairs, the Government and Community Relations Director resonsiblitiies include the following:

  • Develops relationships with public officials, community organizations, and other external constituents in a strategic outreach effort to build new relationships and leverage existing ones to enhance the college's profile;
  • Manages government and community relations activities and initiatives;
  • Serves as a liaison to members of government and affiliated agencies, and their staff;
  • Prepares communications to and for key stakeholders regarding pertinent issues on legislative and budgetary issues;
  • Directs and oversees the development of materials in support of the government relations agenda, such as talking points, legislative summaries, factsheets, testimony, reports, and letters;
  • Collaborates with College departments to prepare funding proposals to government agencies for college initiatives and projects;
  • Conducts research about relevant issues, community leaders, and potential partners for relationship building;
  • Serves as a point of contact for community members, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback;
  • Develops and maintains a database of community contacts, partnerships, and collaborations;
  • Partners with College departments and experts to determine priorities and initiatives;
  • Develops and implements strategies to engage students/student organizations in government relations activities;
  • Attends relevant government and community meetings, hearings and conferences as needed;
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.

  • Sets overall strategy to advance College or Unit programs

  • Prepares and presents positions on imperatives impacting the College/Unit and its broader constituencies

  • Represents the College/Unit with external governmental organizations

  • Serves as spokesperson for College legislative affairs and is the primary contact for legislative issues

  • Identifies and cultivates relationships with appropriate governmental entities, seeking collaborations to meet common objectives

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience ($83,878-$100,329).
